Modeling Realistic Humans - Ninja
Key Features
Creating realistic humans can be quite difficult to in Maya do as it requires attention to detail and catching specific features in your models, in this tutorial you'll learn some great techniques that will help you along the way. The workflow covered in this tutorial is high polygon and subdivision modeling and we'll go through how to catch the defining facial features in your models, add muscle tone to the human body and work on a high resolution polygon mesh.

The tutorial uses NURBS for getting an organic base model which is then converted to polygons and sub d's for detail work. You will learn how to plan for good topology in a high polygon human model and join up geometry to create a combined organic mesh with a nice edge flow. Based
on reference images we first create a polygon head and gradually add more detail to the face with the nose, eyes, mouth and chin area incorporating some of the Ninja's Asian facial features before we move on to the body. After we've established the general topology of the male body we spend time on getting defined muscle tone in the abdominal and upper body area using a number of different sculpting and modeling techniques.

The human hand is modeled from a polygon cube using the classic box modeling method and when our human model is complete we create clothes by duplicating on the geometry we already have and add details and folds to give them a realistic shape around the Ninja's body.
