This five hour long tutorial continues the organic creature modeling project and starts with the complete UV layout for the creature character and his armour in Maya. Working in the UV texture editor we create cylindrical and planar UV maps for the different parts of the body.
We then bring our work into Photoshop for texture painting to create color maps for skin, leather and metal. Working with different brushes and smudging to get color blend we add wear and tear to the leather and spend a lot of time time on creating good color variations in the skin and blending different areas together nicely. Bump- and specular maps are painted as well to further improve our final render results when we bring our maps back into Maya.
