Well, all of the Maya programs are the same, but Linux has a more stable environment than Windows. On the other hand, there arent as many Linux apps as there are Windows apps.
(Less that even Mac.) |
Programs crash in Linux too ya know... a bug is always a bug.

you know what was funny about when maya crashed?...i actually threw up about 10 minutes after i posted... i only remember cause it just happened again(and i vomited again), well at least this time the flow is a little better and i saved about half way through...
i have 2 problems though 1. the wireframe display is messed up... it cutting out parts as you can see in the pic 2. when i open certain scenes they wont run propely unless i have the attribute editor opened (the scenes run slow and when i drag select the colours in the work window get screwed up) unless i have the attribute editor open ittl run slower than a 2 million polly scene so i know it isnt my cpu. alsoi have my display at 1280x1024 and when i set it to 1024x768 the problem goes away but i cant work at 1024x768 the workspace is waaaaaaay too small... any help:confused: :headbang: okay, so, finally an update... however minor it may be... |
YOu might have an extra node attached somewhere, have a look in the hypergraph and see if theres something attached to the geo that dosnet seem right, delete it and than have a look.
Ive had a similatr porblem once wuere when I smoothed a mesh it reverted back to smoothing an old version, god knows how I did it but the old mesh was attached as an imput to the newer mesh, once I deleted it in the hypergraph it worked fine. |

Take it you sorted your problem out.
I was thinking the other day if your using 2008 have a play with the smooth poly preview and the crease edge tool and the slode edge too adjust areas to get a nice flow. I'm gonna be giving it a go with a car I'm making in a while. |
i havent even looked at the smoothe preview yet thanks for the idea man:beer: and no i didnt sort out the problem but as long as i restart maya ever 1/2 hour or so its fine:headbang:

i pressed 3 by accident trying to switch to wireframe mode and i almost... (insert naughty word here)ed in my pants... why didnt i know of that before?
anyways... UPDATE: not much but took a good hour and a half... i cleaned up the bevels and some other mesh on the door and mirror... |
Thats what I was telling you about!
Also the crease poly edge tool might help you out getting nice sharp edges, oh and the slide edge tool will help you out making the geo nice and even. |
Nice mate!!!
