Alien:BarTender

Hey Guys
Here we go again, but with a bit of a difference this time. Im gonna model this and show it as best possible in stages. This has started out from a simple cube again and using MJPolytools and split poly tool to do the donkey work. I'll update as best possible.

Not your regular BarTender...

Where do you get all this time and skill? Amaizing, have you gone to school for maya? Or possible teach courses on it?

Jay 04-06-2005 08:03 PM

Hey AlienScience

Nope neither dude. I have just had the time work wise over the last 5 years to learn it. When you work 15 hrs a day like I did for a couple of years you pick up a few things. The last year or Ive learnt alot at home since buying my own copy of Maya, also since switching jobs Ive had to be everything from modeller to rigger and part time TD whereas before we had those at the company so I was just another artist then but now have responsability big time.

Also my wife is very understanding (thank god) she knows what Im aiming for and leaves me to hone my craft late at night after a full day of it at work too. LOL.

Man, thats great. Hopefully my wife will let me do that (if I ever get married, or at least a girlfriend if im lucky) LOL. Good work by the way, I am still a newb, so this question may sound very stupid. But, how did you do that model on the far right, did you just smooth the poly version, or convert to something? Good job so far though.

Is this going to end up as the long awaited head tutorial on your site?

Jay 05-06-2005 06:26 PM

Ckyuk

Long awaited is an understatement, LOL. Erm, no. Would you want this one then? Its not really a tutorial 'piece' I just thought Id show a stage by stage of this one for a change.

Im doing clothing first anyway if I do a tute there.

Cheers

I'd probably find something a little more human more useful. Someone like Gin.

Is that a definite on the cloth tutorial, or just a "if I get a chance, this is what I am going to do" type thing?

mhcannon 07-06-2005 03:46 PM

This 1 point tutorial should be pretty close to how Jango does his cloth... yes?
