Nurbs is screwing up

Ive been modeling in polygons lately because Nurbs has been acting up. Whenever I select and create a Nurbs cube, or cylinder, it creats all sides as a different unit. So when I use control vertex, I end up moving only one side and it really screws stuff up. When I attempt to move the object, the whole object doesnt come with it. Its starting to really piss me off and any help would be great!

that is how nurbs work with certain shapes.

But when I initially started maya about 2 weeks ago, it didnt do that, just recently has it begun to do it to this extent

no, surprisingly, it's been doing that all the time. if you want to make sure you don't have just a side or a cap selected, press the up arrow key. that should highlight the entire shape instead of just a portion of it.

does this have something to with end sweeps? ive modeled with nurbs and have never noticed this.

then again ive probably only used nurbs spheres.

nurbs cubes and cylinders are made up of parts that are grouped together. a sphere is just one piece.

yeah, it's the loggical conclusion after reading the previous posts.
