Texturing

I have a quick question about texturing to anyone who might know the answer. A friend of mine has made some pretty nice textures in photoshop and I was wondering if I wanted to use the textures that my mate made do I still need to layout the Uv's of my models ??

hahaha... Thanks for the prompt response hammer however I was hoping you might be able to give me a brief explanation along with the answer is it because I will still need line up the uv's with the texture in photoshop??

well the other way around but yes. :D
you would need to have the texture lined up with your UVs.
Its basically why tutorials cant provide textures with the info on how to build the model. You will always have a slightly different model to the texture you will be given.

What kind file is it? if it has the layer information it might not be that hard to fiddle around to fit your UVs.

apply the texture to the model, go into the UV editor and play with your UVs
i figure if you're going backwards in your texturing approach then you might as well go backwards the whole way :)

bad advice... no offense, but this is not how you texture a model. you don't fiddle with the UVs manually imo. (unless its very very small details that is)
