duplicate object along a path

Hello Everyone,

I'm wondering if someone can let me know how to go about duplicating an object along a path. Such as a sphere duplicating 4 times along a CV curve.

Thanks,
TC

This would be something I would definitely like, if anyone has the answer. :) Maybe a new 4.5 feature?

What I do in this situation is the old, duplicate, snap along curve method. :p

oh oh sounds like we haven't got a solution. I'll see if I could figure this out in meantime. Let us know if anyone have a solution.

There's a script called Charlie_chain at highend3d. It's basically meant for creating chains along a path but you could use whatever geometry as "chain objects". It's a bit tricky to use and the results may not be very clean so keep an eye on the outliner...

Hmmm.. here i would suggest something a bit "akward" but
interesting.... How about "Curve Flow" ?

Look what i did.... Created a simple curve and a nurbs circle.

Select first circle then shiftselect curve

Effects -> Curve Flow... ( no emmiter , just go with defaults for now)

Then i have several circles along my curve...
Now ... Select these circles and
Surfaces -> Revolve
Then from outliner quickly delete all unwanted stuff...

How about that... This must be the most Indirect way to
get some spheres along a curve :)

It works great. It will become handy in my upcoming project.

Since we can't use surfaces objects and polygons objects. Ater we get the circle to flow along the curve and revolved. Can we replace that revolve circle with a polygon sphere?

Thnak you so much for the tip.

i guess that with a simple mel script
you could connect the translation attributes of your
objects to the circles.
object1.tx = circle1.tx and so on for all translation attrs and
for all objects
