Old stickies?

Where has the FAQ sticky gone? I remember it was somewhere on the old forum, but I can't seem to locate it now, and it's quite useful for directing new users to. Also I think there was a sticky on how to render out an animation, but that doesn't seem to be around either. Just curious. Thanks.

Guilty, it was me :) You mean this one I think
http://simplymaya.com/forum/showthre...endering+movie

I took it away from the stickies because we took the video off the new site and the thread itself is not that great without the video. But that was a really good video by mike, it just went because it was a few years old and the audio on tuts from a few years back can be a bit scary. It's pretty handy to have something to point to for rendering out a movie sequence. I'll see if we can get a video in for the free friday category tomorrow to replace it.

Any other specific threads you can think of? I only took down 3 or 4 but it was only because they were really old from 2003-2004 and pointed to sites that no longer exist, just got left behind with time and didn't make sense anymore. We need some new stickies though, for things like press the 'b' key, check your normals and keep faces together :)

Cheers,
Nilla

Oh, and the FAQ was definitely in need of an update. I'll write one tomorrow when my brain works again. If you mean a general site FAQ, I never took away a maya one.

I mean a maya faq... things like polys vs nurbs, check your normals, like you said... there was one that had most of that in it. Can't find it though.

Hmmm, something a bit like the Maya tips and tricks in the newbie lounge then? Speaking for myself I would not unstick a thread like that but i'm not the only one with super police powers around here ;) I'll do a search as well. Guess we could always start a new one if we can't find it, keep faces together has gone down a few rankings and been replaced by the 'b' key in top position as far as I can tell. It's a useful thread to have for sure, I remember I used to wonder a lot about those NURBS as well and the more I read the more confused I got because although google's your friend well... I was also convinced that to render a good looking interior scene I had to work in max. Maybe we could do a "Breaking the myths - general software nonsense" kind of sticky in addition :)

On an off-note I like your new "bio-animator-in-training" sig stwert, I look forward to hearing your views on the school in the future.

I'll hazard a guess and say that the FAQ thread used to be in the "Maya Chat" forum, which doesn't exist anymore. Just a guess.

I can't find it either, the maya chat was merged with the newbie lounge so the threads didn't go just the separate forum. I say we can just start a new one for "Maya FAQ" in the newbie lounge, if you start it I'll make it a sticky.
