Glass Material

I'm trying to make a decent glass like material. Here is what I've got so far. Any suggestions are more than welcome.

Also I just remembered... Where can I find info on how to make tinted glass in Maya... The color I got above was a test of color but it seems too light.

A tinted and clear version of my glass material.

I checked http://www.alias.com and was not able to find a glass tutorial. Perhaps you could direct me as to how to find it?

Cool. Glass is something that will look right only if it has something to relect and something on the other side for it to destort.

well i did not want the scene to be too complicated yet, i mean i'm only testing the material. :D However the angle gives the glass its self to distort and reflect.

Looks like you got it to me. Looks great.

Try using caustics. really great for doing glass.

I did try to do caustics, really. But for some reason they look displeasing. They look fuzzy, almost like noise and not at all like caustics I've seen. What settings should I use to get it right?

G'day Bro Rick is right. because glass is clear (has no sorta colour)
and refectivity the background of the scene will totaly change the look.

ie, grey back-ground, grey glass, black back-ground, black glass.

Iv'e seen some examples with a black&white fall off (circular white in the middle, black outside) on a syke or plane behind the glass.

try a lighter colour in your background, it may help.

sorry I don't know any good caustic settings :banghead:

Looking pretty good, keep goin bro
