You know, they actually model and animate the show using maya - they made some kind of plugin that let them render as if it were pieces of paper (the way the original pilot was done was stop animation). I'd imagine it's much faster this way...

That's sort of true.

They do render in 3D, but the models are flat like paper, not true 3D. The main reason they use 3D is for the heirarchies, bump mapping and shadow casting.

At least that was what the article I read said. If it was in print, it must be true... right?
