3d Match Moving (motion tacking) Software for Maya

I am taking a video class at the Academy of Art where I go to school and I really want to find a good software for doing 3D match moving in maya. I have heard that PF hoe is good and synthEyes, I would really appreciate any input anyone has on this subject, as most of these software plugins are real pricey.
thanks so much

you could always try maya live ive seen some pretty impressive results their

thats true, however I hear from multiple sources that is is very tedious to set up,(not that motion tracking is NOT tedious or anything) but thank you for the response

I like PFHoe, even though you don't get many controls; and all their other programs. boujou is good as well, however it is very expensive. Syntheyes is good for multiple sources. You can do manual and automatic tracking, and is pretty cheap.

Another is 3dequalizer, but it's very expensive.

Boujou's another.

Syntheyes or Boujou

i think pftrack is good for object and geometry tracking, but boujou is super fast! :)

being that i am a student I dont think there is anyway I could get boujou, but wow it looks killer...think i might go with pfhoe or syntheye, anyone know of ay good tutorials or documentation on eithr.
thanks

PFHoe is straight forward from when you open it.

With Syntheyes, there are many tutorials on their own site, as well as on the net.

i just found out my buddy has pf track...Dont really know the difference between pftrack and pfhoe but I am going to try out pftrack.

I need a little help I actually got this pf track program working pretty well I am now in maya with the tracked data and want to put just a poly cube in the scene...got that but I need it to have shadow that apprear to drop on the table from the real world. I thought that a plane with a surface shader applied would give me just the shadow from the cube, and not render the plane??? didnt work...basically I need a shader to apply to the poly plane that is under the cube so that I can see the shadows from the poly cube, but the plane needs to be invisible. thanks

Create the plane, and assign a "Use Background" shader. This makes the geometry show the background, however it still receives shadows.

Soulrider911 18-06-2009 03:40 AM

cool thank you...is there any way to improve the shadowing on the background shader...for example if I have a lambert shader on the plane the shadows look 100% better?

Strange... Are you using mentalray or software? They look exactly the same to me. Post something, and I'll take a look.
