GMT no more?

It has recently come to my attention that were not supposed to use GMT any more but UTC (which doesnt even have the letters the right way round)
does anyone know why?

Its probably something to do with political correctness but what could be wrong with GMT? How long has it been like this?

by "we" do you mean the forums or the world?

i been wondering about the time shown on the forums, because i set it to GMT+12 in the options and it's always wrong....

i been meaning to make a comment about this but haven't bothered...

UTC has been used for ages as far as I know... can't even remeber when I've seen a clock with GMT (one of those international clocks where you press a button and it gives you the time and difference of another city).

As for the forum, yeah the time has been messed up ever since I joined.

All forums seem to still use GMT, I dont think people want to change

UTC replaced GMT as the international standard, it is adjusted so it sychronises with the earths irregular orbit.

But frankly it doesnt matter, i still use GMT.

Chirone 14-08-2008 11:28 PM

whats the difference?

LauriePriest 14-08-2008 11:30 PM

UTC is adjusted to be perfectly accurate all the time, but its never more than a second out from GMT.

All times are GMT. The time now is 08:40 PM.
