Sgart March/April

Ok, I have came ut with an idea for this project.

I will model a slave-baby. The baby is attached to wires, and the eyes are medically removed and replaced with cameralenses.
He might also have some form of locked mouth, couse he will get all his "food" via the wires connected to the body.

Reminds a bit about the scene in Matrix.

I am currently googleing up images of lenses, wires, unborn babies etc.

BTW: What are the baby still inside the "mum" called on english? is it "foster" ?

This is a roughly managed picture showing the concept. If course the model wont have like, Canon lens in the eye :P.

looks pretty interesting can't wait to see this
I think the word you're looking for is either Embryo or Fetus. Unless I read your question wrong

Sgart 13-03-2007 10:38 PM

I think it is Fetus. Embryo is in the earlier stage of the pregnacy :)

Nice that you like the idea ;)
I will start sketching on him today.

Sgart 13-03-2007 11:57 PM

Ok, my slavefetus from the side.

Will proberly add more details on the face gadget further on.

i think if they can remove the eyes and replace them with camera lenses surgically, then they should be able to attach the lenses with something better than just a strap with a buckle... maybe it's grafted on, or stapled in? *shrug*

goksimaster 14-03-2007 04:40 AM

You are killing the idea,

Maybe you can make that , ahhh wtf is that, whou do I say it. That thingy that goes from his stomach to his mother. Whell maybe to replace it with some metall

Stapled?

*Shudders*

Sgart's avi is creepy enough; don't give 'em any more ideas!

Kidding :p

Umbilical cord (not sure I spelled "umbilical" right)

He wont have a mum. He will be incubated in some sort of artificial environment. And it is allready decided that the wire or what to call it, wont be organical, rather in metal or rubber or similiar. It will be attached to his stomache with some sort of socket.

I am working with the gadgets now, have created the cameralens. I am working on the piece that covers the mouth now. It is a pain in the ass getting it to follow the headstructure.

One thing I COULD do is to split polygons on his actual face, then extrude the field and pull it out, perhaps.

How do you think I should approach? For the moment I am trying to use create polygon and then reshape it to fit the head but it is a pain in the ass moving every single vertex and rotating. Besides, the surface tends to have different thickness after I have proceeded.

Ok I have made the base model (without limbs) and started on the mask . The lens gadget is there but not the thing covering the mouth. Will continue doing that later on.

Here are some images, unfortunately, the occlosion render is not giving me as nice images as yours, dont know why. Maybe it is my crappy graphic card :S

I doubt its your graphics card as your doing a Mental ray render which dosent use it.

More than likely you need to up the number of samples inthe occlusion node

Yeah, I figured out the same :) I will make nicer renders on next update :) I cant bare render them again since with the higher amount of samples it takes several minutes per render.

You don't use GI joe?

It produces some amazing results; the image I'm attaching was a rendered using GI joe, and it took only 30 seconds to render.

Mind you, this beast is in the vicinity of 10,000 faces.

If you are unfamiliar with GI joe, you can get it here:

Sgart 15-03-2007 10:08 AM

I downloaded it. You got a PM.

I fixed the render.

Made the arm, made a screw and pinned the mask with 2 screws. I think I will add more screws to the mask later.

Its pretty hard making the arms in T pose, cause it is not easy finding a fetus on google making the jesus move :/
I think the lenght would be pretty correct though. It will look shorter when the elbow is bent etc.

Now I must go to sleep... it is allmost 5 in the morning here and I have been staying up all night the whole week now :P

To get better ambient occlusion renders turn up ur smaple rate to 64 or 128. I have found that using multiples like 32, 64 or 128 produce nice results

Ok will do :) I think I got it at 64 now or something. Will try 128 next time.

Thanks!
