Photo-realistic Living Room Scene
1 Attachment(s)
It's been a while since I've posted anything. Kinda went on hiatus. But, I decided to finish up this piece recently. I'm very new to rendering, so it's not perfect, but I'm pretty happy with it. Any comments or crits are welcome :)

Did you save this straight out of Maya as a JPG? Try using a PNG then compressing to JPG with something like PS, if it's too big.
Maya does a terrible job with JPGs. |
I have noticed one thing... on the left skirting board... it seems that either its carpeted and you have forgotten to do the rest of the walls, or you have accidently got some strange vertacies. or a mix of the 2.... appart from that it looks pretty good... again as Jr. Who said, export as something else then convert to jpg using photoshop or similar as maya is poo at it.

I don't think he saved it as a jpg, I think he needs to increase the antialiasing.

Thanks for the responses!
I saved it as bmp and converted to jpg. I had my render quality at intermediate. I increased it to production. Also, I'm using maya software renderer instead of mental ray on this one, so I'm sure it would be better quality had I set it up for mental ray. I'm not using any raytracing in this render either, just depth map shadows. I'll probably mess around with trying some other settings so I can see what kind of results I get. I still need to fix up where the floor and wall meet, thanks for pointing that out! Here's a new image with production quality render. |

Here's a render of the bowl. I just put on a snow texture and tweaked it from there. Most textures in this scene are procedural. The only ones that aren't are the rug and the throw pillows and pictures.

what type of renderer was used on these?
nice renders, although the scene is a bit bland and for some reason the scale doesnt seem right to me. the room looks a bit too small. its an ok render, but far from photo realistic. |
looks quit nice just a little cellular :s
and theres something wrong with the right frame |
