I need help creating an underwater scene

Hello Fellow MAYANS,

Ok, I have to admit.... the underwater stuff with PIXAR'S "Finding Nemo" was incredible. I would love to create similar results with fluid effects. Would anyone have a clue on attempting this? I would appreciate any advice. I have my shark from Mike's tutorial and that would be very kewl to use as well.

I appreciate it and look forward to hearing what you guys have to say!!

Never stop learning and thank you in advance as always!!!

Check out my animation: http://forums.simplymaya.com/showthr...&threadid=8336

If it's something like that, I could possibly answer some questions.
Just be a bit specific.

I too have done some underwater work. If you truly want Nemo quality, than you'll need a team of programmers and a couple of years to get it just right. However, if quick and dirty works for you like these shots

than all you need to do is create a spot light with fog, add some 3D fractals to the fog to give it some particluates, and use an ocean shader as a gel on the light. As for distance fog, if the camera is locked like my shots, you don't really need it. You can animate your objects transparency in post to simulate coming out of fog, and blur the top edge of the alpha of your ground plane to make it look like it's falling into the fog. Thrown in some bubbles with a particle system, and you're good to go. I also added some warping and noise in post for good measure.

Hope that helps.

Thank you

Thank you all for your quick replies

All of the scenes I have viewed are outstanding..

Fredriksson..... I am MOST interested in how you created the water for yours..

Not only am I impressed by the shader, I have been looking for a way to view the wave ON the surface. (from the ocean floor looking up)

Could you give me a quick "HOW TO" so I could at LEAST get pointed in the right direction..

GREAT work by all!!!! And I thank you!!!!
