Cutting nurbs

Hello guys, while working on my Porsche i ran into a problem. How do i cut a nurbs object in half? Like detatch some part of a nurbs object? I just try to copy the object and delete some part but the whole thing disappears. Whats the right way to do this?

Select an isoparm you wish to detach, Edit Nurbs > Detach Surface.

Project a curve to the surface, and use the curve to detatch surface. I may remember wrong but I think this is it.

that would be using the Trim tool... depending on the situation of course, but generally, in my experience, trimmed surfaces aren't really a good thing. :P It could be ok for a car, though, depending on where you used them.
