Hey Guys,

Heres the start of a character that I'm making, I think I'll use it as a base mesh for any Z brush work in the future, when I'm happly with the mesh topology.

Any crits or comments, as always much appreciated.

Cheers

Steve

I'm in a but of a hurry but here goes.

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h5...03modified.jpg

1. This area seems to be to large, I think that the line should be further up.

2. I'm fairly sure that this area is supposed to be smaller at least if you look at the avarage male.

3. This line just seem to be to sharp, which creats some ugly effects when smoothed

Good job and the best of luck!

great start:beer:

there are a couple of things i noticed however;
- try to match the human anatomy, by adding definition to his cheekbone, upper lip, jaw and browridge.
-try to avoid having to many straight lines in your geometry, most of them will go away when you follow the anatomy.

looking forward to see some maya-zbrush creation;)

Cheers Guys.

No Probs Jay, I know your busy at the mo so its really appreciated.

Cheers for the little "red lining" weyu, I know what you mean about the cheak and the eye area, I need to get the base mesh ok before I then move onto making the head more accurate, I always have probs with that area of the eyes!

The distance between the nose and the top lip, however, matches the reference that I've got, as you say its smaller in an "average" person, but for what Ive got in mind it kinda suits him.

Here you go, nothing major, just a couple of pointers. No cutting needed just a bit of edgeflow directing. And close the gap between the lips and nose and a slight rotation of the ears.

If you a doing Z work to it, do it there, it will save time! Trust me on this!!

All the best
Jay

Cheers Jay. It's very much appreciated. When you said that you were gettin the ol pen out i got a bit worried that it was a right mess! I'l mod the mesh as per your red pen then, I'm gonna try to get some good ref of a well known actor, mod the base mesh in maya to better fit then go into z with it for a proper bash at a likeness!

Jay 15-05-2007 09:35 AM

LOL if it was a mess I wouldnt have bothered. You cant polish a turd! This was fine mate, just a tweak is all

Not a bad start at all. The only crit I have to add,
The Eye\Cheek area looks too "inline" or flat.
Are you going to model the ear with more detail
or do a texture over it?

cheers

gster123 15-05-2007 11:06 PM

Nice one Jay, must be on the right tracks!!

Toxic - I've adjusted the geo now so it might look different, the straightness on the cheak might be due to the perspective of the camera, i'll post up some pic's later.

As for the ear, i'm going to model it, the ones that are there at the moment are just placeholders untill I model them.

Cheers

Bit of an update, keeping the red pens in mind!

Going to model an ear now then find some good ref give it a bit of a tweek and then go into Z brush!

Hi Steve - this is looking really good.

The only things that stand out to me is that the nose looks a bit too straight and the eyes seem a little high, but these are minor and might be reflected in your ref - looking forward to seeing some progress.

Looking good. I haven't had much practice on heads yet, the only human like object I modeled was the franky tutorial. I'm about to start working on my own version of the Fantasy Female model using a different image using the video as a guide. Hope my head comes out looking as clean and smooth as yours has.

keep it up!

I've started to take it away from the references that I was using, I've now started to try and make it take the shape of A cirtian Well known actor, Heres a progress shot, see if you can guess who its (hopefully) going to be, If no one gets it then I'll know that It needs a lot more work LOL! Now where did I put those detonators???
