painting on model to create texture template?
Is it possible to use the 3D paint tools of Maya to paint on the model in key areas to help me create a texture by saving it as a map?
Any tutorials on this? Pointers? How much I like Maya: :bgreen: Thanks |
Yes, I usually do that in some situations.

Thanks, Mike. I love your video tutorials.
By the way, can you give me a step-by-step as to how to do this? |
I use it somewhat too. Here is how I do it.
If polygons: UV-map it. Assign a file texture in some slot (color, probably). In rendering menuset, texture -> 3d paint tool options. Select what attribute to paint in file texture. Set up image options and save it. Start painting. Save when done. The files can be found in projectdir/3DPaintTextures/filename/ . Hope it helps. |
Thanks, Bjorn. I will try that.

Try out the Cyclops texturing tut. The initial texturing is done with the Paint tools, then the texture is exported to Photoshop. Texture adjustment, bump, and specular mapping are all done in Photoshop, then it's all brought back into Maya and applied to the model.

You read my mind, James. :) Thanks.

No problem. It's nice to be able to point someone in the right direction even when I'm totally lost...
