she-ras "Shaddow Weaver" syflex tut
 

My main job at work the last 2 months has been making cloths for the main characters. my boss has also now asked me to write/make a guild to syflex for any new starters we get. so i`m going to do it and share it with everyone online.

the charcter i`m going to use is shadow weaver from the she-ra cartoon. I`m a big fan of the masters of the universe and for the cloth tut she is perfect.

going to make a few changes to update more like the 200x heman show, mixing alot of the styles above.

already got a body 4 her, which was made by a girl in work which i took and modified into shaddow weaver and started the low res cloth.

although hidden by the cloth, will still need to rig it to effect the cloth which sucks a little but at least i dont have to texture it :attn:

dont know yet if it will written or as a video. we have the softwear to do it in work but going away 4 christmas.

the main reason for this is because of the very little on syflex i found on the net it only ever covers the basics like making a cloth covering a table/ball or a t shirt. i plan on covering

1) multiply layers of cloth
2) how to fix problems
3) planning cloth for your models
4) fixing problems in post

all topics never covered.

It's looking good thus far. And thanks for sharing the knowledge, I can't wait to try this myself!

nice ill stick around to see how this thread turns out, and as for the syflex tut, digitaltutors.com has made video tuts on them but its not free.

@ younglion - yer got that and the only real good thing about it is a pluggin called easyflex that helps set up the cloth. the videos only covers only covers the basic garments like t shirts and dresses,- but i want to do is have both if not more. - take to the next level so to speak.

the final thing sould be ready the first week of jan 07 as its hoiladay time and i`m making this in my spare time not as a job thing (still getting paid for it though.:attn: )

if i can learn this stuff in 4 weeks than anyone can

hit a small bump with all the computer in work being brought up to maya 8. We are currently waiting for the new liance for syflex so all work has been hulted until then,

errrr bugger.

Thinking that I`m going to do this in three parts.

1) How to make syflex cloth and how to fix some basic problem.

2) Wrap deforming, Cloth on cloth simulation, Cacheing cloth.

3) Baking simulations, fixing in post.

Got part one done. In the process of get it online and converting the videos to divx. I`m worried its too long and abit complex.

Want to post it here first to make sure it can be followed and that there is no errors in it.

right yer tested and everything is now working - had to chang the videos to quicktime, as they were not working apart from that I think its good to go.
