Tiff or tga?

So what is the best image format to use Tiff or TGA when dealing with alpha channels within maya and why?
Its just that the file sizes are the same.

Cheers
Steve

a TIFF is the same as a TIF but an IFF is a maya file format which holds information relevant to the maya scene. You can open IFF files in photoshop with the right plugin.
