rendering multiple different lights

i seem to have a problem rendering an ambient, directional and spotlight on the same scene. it seems like it only renders the ambient light and forgets the other ones. but when i delete the ambient light the spotlight renders and not the rest. anybody have ideas?

what makes you sure your lights are being ignored? (and never use an ambient light... it makes your objects appear flat.)

show us an image?

um maybe they are being rendered but its hard to tell. I just tought there might of been some kind of maya setting that sets the number of lights to render in the same scene. but i guess not.

naw, you could have like 800 lights in the same scene... a good way to tell if a light is being ignored is by turning on depth map shadows for each light. if you get two shadows (i'm HOPING you got rid of that ambient light :P) then you've got your two lights working correctly.

but you should post a screen capture of your light setup and a render just to be sure.

well if you are going for a flat colour then an ambient light is your choice apart form the its useless and doesnt give you realistic results, and also checj your attribute editor for the light intensity, and make sure nothing is block the light path. It will be much better if you could post a screen shot of what your problem is.
