I'd like to know how to render volumic, particles, fur, paint effects, z-depth and fog passes !!! Anyone can help or have a tut on this???? Thanks Danny |
Look at your maya docs that come with the program under particles.
|
Thanks !!!
And how about volumic lights, fur,...... no one seems to have the answer !!!! Thanks again !! danny |
put them in a separate scene if you have to, it's not an ideal situation but it would work.
Or you could apply a matte material to your objects (E.g. matte opacity "black hole") and that would give you just the fur rendered, NOt sure how that would work with volumetric lights though. Alan |
You just need to render them alone. Depending on your needs you can hide everything else or create "matte" shader so that the geometry in your scene obstructs the areas where you want to hide your effects.
EDIT: Pure, you beat me by one minute ;) |
Thanks guys !!
It did work for the fur !!! At last !!! I've checked the z-depth pass on the common tab of the render global, but I cannot find it ? any clue ??? I just have to find how render volumetric light, paint effect and fog...... Where can I find tutorial on layers and passes ???? Thanks guys you made my day !!! daniel |
to get a z-depth you have to render as iff's and then you can view them in fcheck by pushing z. There is allgedely a way of getting maya to render it as a separate file but I can never get it to work. You can get a plugin for photoshop that will allow you to read iffs as well.

Thanks !
Another problem solved !! You guys kick asses !!! If you know someone who can answer the othersit would be fantastic !!! Thanks again..... oh, by the way, can I find the iff plugin on the maya web site??? Daniel |

You'll find the plugin here. As for the lights I'm not sure, sorry it's not something I've played with. Alan |
Hmmm...a little bit late, I guess...anyway:
Over at Highend3D, you'll find some shaders to render out a separate z-depth pass. Maya's z-depth is 8-bit only, so it comes out aliased. With the mentioned shaders, you'll be able to render the depth info ito 16 bit image files. |
whats z depth?
