ATI vs Nvidia comparison (more bang 4 the $)

I found a good comparison and thought I would pass it
along.

For Me I cant see spending 2 or 3 times the price for
performance increases that are so miniscule
that you can only tell the difference with a bench test.

The big clincher for a lot of people will be the HL2 and source engine performance ati is currently showing against Nvidia. Hate Ati drivers myself and I have been put off their cards because of it, but the results speak for themselves. I'd like to see some 'real' results, not just from Valve before I finally make up my mind though, and by the time I need a new card there will be new ones from both anyway I suppose.

I like ATI... it's cheaper :D

ATI = good cards, crap support
nVidia = decent cards, decent support.

I go with nVidia every time due to the support.

Somehow, I feel this thread will go the way of the Windows/Mac/Apple ones...only ugliness :D

ATI have taken alot of flak for their drivers (which were until 6 months ago rubbish). But as an owner of an r9700 and between me and my friends we have ~12 machines with ATI 9k-series cards, and I must say they have been performing great. No issues with the drivers or support. I put a Zalman heatpipe cooler on mine, no moving parts completely quiet. I can reccomend ATI, from my own and my friends experience, but your milage may vary.

Well... ATI hasn't failed me yet either... there pretty durable. :D
