create a sphere and scale it so its bigger than you scene, then apply a lambert to it map a sky texture to the colour slot, then uv map the sphere eith cylindrical or shperical projection will do.. if you are using mental ray also map the sky texture to the incandesence or ambience

sky texture meaning Evn sky?

no, he means a texture, not a node.

ENV sky is applied to individual objects, not to an environment

So a file?

If It was me I would just use the IBL node in the mental ray tab, saves making a dome, scaleing it etc just ckick it and whack either a HDR or a angular sky map to it and adjust the saettings to suit.

This is if your going to use mental ray, and you want lighting from it

Thanks guys but i found out a better way.

Make a Sphere > Add a lambert > Map the incandescence as a ramp > then in the ramp just get the colors you like. then just go under the HSV color noise and move some up alittle.

lol this will be great for the project i am just starting : cloud city. i just started it but heres a quick dome i still need to make it look better when i finsh the modeling and textureing.
