modeling question

I'm trying to create a doorway in a wall but when i tried deleting the faces from front and back of the wall, there's no polygons to the sides. i was wondering if there was a way to create some faces there or even have an easier way to make a doorway without having to deal with faces at all.

The append polygon tool is used to create polygon faces to fill empty holes by clicking on the edges of the empty spaces, but still instead of going through that trouble, I think it would be easier if you use extrude faces instead.

just make a cube, cut it in thirds using the cut faces tool and then extrude those faces to create that doorway. All you do is just move the middle side face inwards and then then extrude the outer left and right border faces until you create the doorway.

i hope that helps. good luck on your work.

A nice easy way would be to select the faces highlighted and then [Extrude Edge]. Move the new edges over to the 'other side' of the cavity wall and merge the relevant vertex (highlighted in yellow)

you are right that is an easier and faster way than redoing the whole thing from scratch. I always sucked at games of chess so i totally missed that move :headbang:

bummer
