Hope this gets introduced in SP1!!
As you guys may know GPU's are coming the fashion for rendering due to their massive processing power, check out wahts being bundeled with Mental Ray 3.8.

If so, would this result in SLI becoming useful for Maya? TBH, I don't really know much about GPU computing.

In a word yes.
I'm coding some stuff using Cuda at the moment and looking into seeing if I can ge it going with anything in Maya. TBH using the hardware in the PC, I.E GFX cards would make a big decrease in rendering times, if implemented right, as there is a limitation the the GFX processors instruction set. |

awesome news! I have a pair of nvidia 2gb gtx 285 ftw and a 9800 gt as a physics engine.
But I have only put one of the 2gb gtx 285 ftw's in my system because I did not want to waste wattage if they are not actually doing anything useful. I'd love to actually be able to take advantage of them. |
