RickStefani 22-01-2004 01:17 AM

Did you use photo references. You need to use references. Ask yourself, does it look right?

twisteddragon33 22-01-2004 09:29 AM

i didnt use refrences and my head came out fine:-D.. oh wait.. no it didnt...

Yeah references usually help a great deal in any project.

erm...wtf.....

Alan 22-01-2004 12:00 PM

ok the genreal proportions look about right (e.g. you'e got two eyes in the rights place etc ;)) but you really need to think about the form a bit more. reference models should AlWAYS be used where possible, sketches photos whatever. It means that you have a definate goal to aim for. Even if you just use a basic head outline its better than nothing.

keep on trying though and I'm sure you can get something looking cool

Like Pure said looks like the placement is good. It looks like you have modeled things well also. You will want to try browder at the lower part of the nose. Like duble the width. and the neck is to small, even for cartoonishness.

update still need to texture the face, any one know of any good face texture painting tutorials?

Spyd03 23-01-2004 09:50 PM

Looks alot better......keep tweeking....and you will find the look that you want...

Alan 24-01-2004 01:01 PM

hmm i actually think that you've got a good look there. There's just something about it. the nose is still looking a little off (maybe it's too straight) and the lips definatley need some work. They almost look too flat and hard. They should be softer.

But as I said it's something I do like the look of so keep it going! ;)

twisteddragon33 24-01-2004 01:46 PM

if your making the lips from subd with polygon proxy i think i know why they look weird. same thing happened to my model, instead of extruding the face for the lips just extured it out a little, then snap the top part back to the model, so it sloped from the nose down to the lips. then from the lip into the mouth... i dont know if i explained it well enough... i might grab an image to show you.

That is a great expressive face. Yeah the bottom of the face is too heavy and forward, but the eyes and nose and hair really create a pensive vibe. Reminds me of Christina Ricci for some reason?
