3DS import in maya 2009

Where can i find the 3ds plug-in for maya 2009. I was using 8.5 and decided to buy maya 2009 but i'm missing the 3ds plug-in cuz ad my work they don't have 3d Max and sometime i use premade max files. if i recall correctly it was something like 3dsimport.mll

Humm... i dont have 2009 but i would asume its under Window > Settings/Preferences > Plug In Manager. Then in there somewhere as thats where the rest are on 2008.

That's correct but maya 2009 does not have the plugin already installed so i need to install it first. But thats the problem i can't find the plug in on the internet.

i would have thought that you could just save out a max file as an fbx or something and import it into maya... since they belong to the same company now

you could possibly just copy the plugin from 2008 into 2009, although i don't know if 2009 will want to read a plugin built for 2008's api

The 3ds plugin comes in the bonus tools install so the easiest way to get it is to click on get bonus tools under the help menu or just go straight to Autodesk and download bonus tools for 2009.

I did install the bonus tool but apparently not completely, cuz i don't see any Bonus tool menu in maya 2009.

What i did was the flowing:
-- I downloaded the bonus tool for windows.
-- Install it by dubbel klicking on the msi exe
-- The part where i'm stuck is the editing of the usersetup.mel
-- i have neither usersetup.mel or usersetup.py in maya script dir.
-- Coping the usersetup.py from the bonus tool dir to maya script dir does also not work.
Can anybody help me with this
