Whats better - 3D-MAX or MAya or Cinema 4D
i was thinking what are the advantages and disadvantages of these softwares , for example which is faster,....
i think i need you guys help ;) |
Hi DotNet
i think that's a question of personal taste. All 3 programs having advantages and disadvantages. I'm working with Maya 8 Unlimited. I like it much more than 3ds Max or Cinema4D. Tested both.... I can give you only the advice to test the programs. Maya and 3ds Max are available as Demo Versions. Another way to decide which one is the best for you, search the forum. Here are much threads about that question. Galadiel |
I think, unless you were unable to decipher the name of this website the answer will be pretty much unanimous. simplya'MAYA'.
Of course there may be the odd chink in the Maya armour that have fallen away to the darkside but we disregard them. (jk) ;) |
Lol i think most of us will say Maya ftw because this is a maya site and we all <3 maya. GO MAYA.
|
totally agree with Galadiel, personal taste all the way.
Funny that you asked this in a simplyMAYA website... i wounder what the results would be ;) "Of course there may be the odd chink in the Maya armour that have fallen away to the darkside but we disregard them. (jk) " haha soo true j5ive... :p gooooo Maya! |
i have tried to learn max and cinema 4d too .but offcouse
Maya is my favourit and most easy to me (since it's user interface extremely easy) and i also know that it's funny to ask this question in a web site called simplymaya.com :p but what i actually wanted to know is whether i need to stick to maya only or learn maya + other programms tooo , and whats the best one to learn with maya |
my thought would be learn the programs you NEED to learn to get to the end. if you get what i mean ;)
|
the thing is, it really doesn't come to 'what program' do you learn. not yet, anyway. first practice the theory. modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering... all those are pretty consistent from platform to platform, but if you can do those things well, it doesn't matter which program you use, cause the only real difference is lingo and interface.
i kinda see 3d as similar to music. you can learn to create music on a guitar. as you get better with the guitar, your music sounds better. afterwards, if you decide to switch to the piano or flute, all you really gotta do is understand how they work. after that, you pretty much understand how to play the music already. |
I prefer Maya over Cinema 4D because it's easier for me. I would rather put in the time to be amazing at one thing than mediocre at several.
That said, I am not discarding Cinema 4D. I am also going to continue studying it but to a lesser degree than I study Maya. |
Imo it depends on what you doing, i personally like maya, but use cinema4d when making video intros or any sort of motion graphics stuff

You guys do realize that this is a thread from 2007 right? :)
