Logo Placement

1 Attachment(s)
Hi,

I'm trying to place a logo on the bottom right corner of the image in the following link, but I'm not sure how. The plastic casing is a phong material and I'd like to have the logo there. Is there a way to do this so it doesn't look like a sticker was put on with a while box around?

I have the logo in Illustrator as a vector object, so I can convert it to any format...

Thanks!

hm if you mean you won't that your logo looks "flat" on your material you could make a bevel from the illustrator file. Create -> Adobe Illustrator. So you can make a volumetric object from an Illustrator file. But I think you know that anyway ;)

I would do it this way...

I probably wasn't clear...
What I want to avoid is the white box around my logo in the bottom right. I did this by projecting the illustrator file onto 1 face of the model and that worked, but i dont understand how to get rid of the surrounding box. I want to have the orange globe like logo plus the words be right on the plastic, like a alpha channel.

Any ideas??
Thanks!

I personally have never used Illustrator but I am pretty sure its just like photoshop, if so then you can just make an alpha channel in the channels tab of the layers box and then use the wand tool to select the desired parts (the letters) and make them black and the rest white in the alpha channel/layer. This will then make the white part around the text transparent (as long as your saving out in a format that stores alpha (tiff, targa, etc).

Hope this makes sense as like I said I haven't actually used Illustrator.

ah ok now with the logo on it I understand ;)
If you have your image as an illustrator file you can make paths of the letters and the logo by shift-clicking the objects/text you want have in maya and press ctrl+shift+o. now select the white box and delete it. Save the file as an AI uncompressed file and then import it like I told you. That would work. But I think bendingiscool's way is more comfortable because you have the color information with it cause it's a pic and not a vector information.

hmm, but now I have a question. Everything which is black is transparent in alpha channels, isn't it??? Because when I make my adjustments for the discreet keyer in combustion the alpha matte is always: black: transparent, white: footage. Haven't worked with photoshop for too long ;)
