Poly render crispness...etc etc

Ok I am rendering some stuff that was modelled as Poly. When I render it the edges are not crisp/smooth they are jagged. Where do I go to increse the quality of these poly objects?

I normally use Nurbs and I can increase or decrease the surface render quality by going into "set nurbs tesallation" and obviously the "Render Globals" window.

For poly do I go select the poly object and go into tesallation attributes and play with it? So far I don't see much difference after playing with Max Triangles......etc etc. Is there any other place that I need to look into????

Please it's urgent as I need to render it to integrate into my graphic at work.....

unless you have a displacement on your poly, the tesselation has no effect at all to the render. to get rid of the steps you could increase your anitalias setting in render globals or model with more detail. you could also convert the polygon to subd or smooth it to have nicer edges. if only certain edges need be differant you can soften or harden the edges (i think edit polygons->normals->soften/harden).

hope that helps

p.s.: saying it is urgent is not gonna make me get up earlier ;)

Oh! and give me your phone no. so that I can wake you up earlier :-O)

P.s- Your name little duck is cool :-)

In render globals anti aliasing is alread upto production quality.
Softening made it worse.
hmm!!!

I created this object by using some curves and then surface>bevel plus. So my question is - Is there any other way to make the resulting object smoother?

if you created it with curves, why not output as nurbs ???

and the avatar is a drawing kari made (kbrown) - you need thank him that you like it :p
