needed help on simple model shape

hello - i'm trying to model a pedestal sort of object: i made a path in photoshop, imported the curve into maya, duplicated it and scaled it down some and lofted the 2 curves. i now need a surface to cover the top and bottom....how do i do that? and also, how might i be able to create some smooth rounded edges?

Well if you just want it flat on top, then you could select the top curve and use the planar tool. That would create a flat top, but with hard edges though.

Try this tutorial. It' simple and will probably give you the ability to use the tools necessary to complete your pedastool. Hope this helps; http://www.highend3d.com/maya/tutorials/kevin2/

In addition to icarus' comment you can use the round tool to round off the edges.

Or you could create on both ends another isoparm and snap them to the middle.

This should help you avoid planar related problems in the future.
