My first shipped game!

After being in this industry for literally years now, and after working on over 7 games, I've finally had one get to completion and actually SHIP!

NFL Street 3 for the PS2/PSP, published by EA is out and I worked on it! Woo! :)

Just needed to let that out, haha. Thanks, guys!

Nice one Mike, I'll keep an eye out for it!

Any chance you could reveal what you did in the game, so we can keep an eye out for it?

Nice one mate.

Congrats. Are you allowed to tell us what you worked on specifially? Ive never played NFL Street series before, but Ive seen it played. Pretty good games IMO.

mtmckinley 17-11-2006 08:39 PM

I worked in some way or another, on all of the fields in the game, but made 2 of them from scratch myself. One on the PS2 and one that's only featured on the PSP. You can see screenshots at my website. :)

Nice dude!

hey i was thinking of buying your book.. i just want to know how much it covers like, will i beable to make a game like alittle one or.. will you be going over that? and will you go out side of maya?

thanks
What version of maya do you have?

mtmckinley 18-11-2006 11:38 AM

my books are strictly making game art. You wouldn't be able to make a game of your own without some kind of game engine/programmer support.

And it's all Maya.

I have Maya 7 at home and we use 6 at work.

starjsjswars 18-11-2006 11:55 AM

oh ok i can you send me a link or somthing to get me on my way to making games? thanks.

mtmckinley 18-11-2006 12:03 PM

Fraid I'm not a programmer, nor do I know anything about game engines. The way I make games is by making art for them at my job. That'd be my only real advice... :) Get a job as a game artist!

Makin Games is not a jump in process...

Think about what type of game, storyline, plot (unlike Doom 3 had), concept, concept art (2d and 3d), game engine, programming language, scripting...

The list is endless... So Good Luck.

mtmckinley 18-11-2006 12:28 PM

yeah that's why it generally takes more than 1 person to make these things!

starjsjswars 18-11-2006 12:30 PM

Yea i know lol i just hope before i go to college i make a 1st person game just 1 room idk what he does lol, I'm 15 now.
