I'm not an animation master, but I think it looks great, it really seems like the box is heavy.

Hey, looks pretty cool so far

Anything you spot, that i can improve, or maybe any movements or subtle movements i can add to give it some realism.

Im after some serious crit as i really want to push myself to improve.

Thanx for your comments guys.

thats pretty cool. the only things that seemed off happened in the first second of the vid. the elbows are all over the place especially on the left arm and I really saw that when he rested it on the box for the first time. the feet moved w/ a weird popping motion. the bobbing/arching of the head seemed out of synch w/ the shoulders which resulted in a sublte strangeness in the body mechanics to me. i guess my biggest beef w/ it is whats going on in the upper body. the rest of the animation looks pretty good :D

gecT.

Thanx man, thats what im after, some good crit. You made some good points there. The walk needs MAJOR tweaking. lol And ive taken all your points on board to work with.

One thing ive learned in animation is to excaggerate poses etc. but i think i went slightly OTT and now the walk especially looks awful the more i look at it.
Ive still got to animate his body positioning to show weight and balance, and the feet have no animation at all (except the walk) apart from translate X and z.

As for the arms, i notice that too. It takes some outside help sometimes to spot. Its all good admiring your own work and viewing a playblast 100 times, but you get nowhere.

Unfortunately this is not quite in blocking nor totally smoothed out, so half of it looks tweaked, half doesnt, so bare with me, il keep you updated.

Crits like these are a HUGE help. MUCH appreciated and keep them coming. Thanx gecT

Oh yeh, as for the elbows...LMAO. They have absolutely zilch animation other than to give me an idea how his arms should look. They too need MAJOR tweaking.

Thanx guys. keep em coming, and il keep updating

here is an update.

Smoothed out the first 2 or 3 seconds. Heres what i worked on;

i smoothed the arms, hip, chest, neck and head, to reduce awful bobbing motion. I have tweaked the shoulders slightly. I have also tweaked the elbow controls to reuce the popping you mentioned.

C&C welcome. thanx peeps

this is gonna sound really stupid, but do you have a place you can host these videos other than youtube? i'd love to critique your work, but i'm at work and youtube and myspace and imageshack and the like are all blocked... which means i can't see them. it really prevents me from being able to see people's work and giving good suggestions. *tear*

mr pix. 07-03-2008 03:49 PM

mmmm is facebook blocked too?

NeoStrider 07-03-2008 03:56 PM

yea, sadly.

mr pix. 11-03-2008 01:21 AM

here is my latest. Im about to block out the next phase, but just wanted some feedback on this.

I must add though, the feet and fingers have very little animation on them, but ALL c&c are welcome, as attention to detail is key.

Thanx guys and i heop i get some feedback

yay updates. how did i miss these><. i didnt see the last group, says the vids were removed. once again the issues i can find are in the beginning. well it seems like that bobbing of the head is cut down, though i think if someone were to actually be walking and looking at their cell phone that they're holding so far away from their body, they'd probably stiffen their necks to hold their head steady in order to read the tiny text, even if its just for a moment. right now his head looks kinda heavy.the position of the right foot in the first frame and the way it drags forward, makes me feel like that guy would end up tripping over his own feet. that left elbow is still popping as hes about to put it on the crate, that could be whats really throwing off the motion to me, i cant put my finger on it but at that moment the relationship between the upper and lower body seems outta wack. and theres a weird slowdown as he's about to swing his body around and get behind the crate, i dont remember it being that way in the first animation. and maybe add a pause and a kinda huff and puff moment where he gathers some strength right before hes pulls the box, anyways you asked for feedback and now you got it and now im rambling lol, keep the updates coming. i like these. :P

looking very nice so far mr pix :)
The only thing that caught my eye was about the beginning to the end of 9 seconds in. When he pulls the box the second time there is a lapse in his action that would have resulted in the box dropping back down to the ground (based on the weight that you have given the box overall). If you made his action of stopping the box more exaggerated and faster then it would help.

still very good stuff though :)

Thanx. I just noticed. Good point. The box looks heavy, then at the point you said, it loses a bit of weight.

Thanx, i'l work on that and repost
