Jan/Feb/Normal/MagicSy

Im definitely in the noob Cat here, never done anything organic.
So at the moment im toying with the idea of a .................
SEAL!! possibly a pup.;)

THX1138 02-01-2006 08:43 PM

Seriously, you should be entering this one as a normal, your that good!

magicsy 02-01-2006 10:07 PM

lol ok i will enter as normal, but i havnt ever modeled anything organic but the prize for normal is very good!
so i give it a shot.

cris007 02-01-2006 10:29 PM

There you go, that's the spirit. I mean even i entered as normal :D. It's great to see that we'll be in the same category again. It's going to be just like old times ;)

ok i have decided on my pet boxer dog as my project.
heres a pic of him(the seal looked quite easy as in not much to model)this should be a mighty challenge with all that hanging skin.;)

cris007 02-01-2006 10:37 PM

Indeed... Boy this going to be a very interesting challenge... with all these exotic animals and everything... When we're done we can put them all in a virtual zoo ;)

Man I love boxers, my sister had a couple of them that she would show. They are a great looking dog. Can't wait to see your progress on this one :)

Cheers
Paul

good luck to u all and i hope this challenge produces the same high quality as the last.
Bms yeah im not much of a dog lover but boxers i really love too!
he's 18months old n called chester.
heres a pic of a wire and me getting the basic head shape right.

jsprogg 02-01-2006 11:29 PM

Hey Magic ..nice choice and you are going to love getting involed with hair or fur ...hehe

For a basic rough out of the shape you could use far less geometry, you might find starting so dense will give you more work in the future when trying to get edge loops right ect.

hey man :) yeah its under control im using Connect poly shape..well im watching a tutorial on how it works. so basically im working on a lower poly version.
Heres some more shape got the jowels or however u spel it modeled a bit more and some more shape to the snout.

Joopson 03-01-2006 12:00 AM

why not use smooth proxy instead of connect poly shape? it works good.

t1ck135 04-01-2006 10:08 AM

nice choice, you should be able to get some good character in this model :)

looks like you need to start working on the edgeloops around the eyes next

cris007 04-01-2006 10:22 AM

Looking good so far Simon... In this rhythm you'll have him done in no time.
