nothing built in that I know of. There are skeletons you can download from the net, but I usually just make my own.

theres this amazing plugin called skeleton works, found right here:

its the best plugin ive seen for skeleton building in maya :)

NEM is right. Skeleton Works is very sofisticated plug-in. I spoke with its author(or I think he made this plug :DDD) Bert van Brande about it and it looks very simple but very powerfull and flexible ...

It's pretty cool. It can really speed up the skeleton process.

:) theres also another one called autorig somewhere, that isnt as good i dont think, its very very complicated as well
