Update: F8F Bearcat

Question: I've been breaking up the Geometry of the Bearcat into parts at various prominent seams on the plane instead of just making one single mesh. It reduces the number of polies I have to move around if I want to make drastic changes, but I'm wondering if professionals in the film and game industries would frown upon not having a single high-poly mesh for this model.

On the upside, I'm pretty excited about how much easier High Poly modeling has gotten for me in the past few days. Working in the game industry for the past three years has retarded my other skills. ;)

Comments and Critiques so far? I'll be finishing up the wings, legs and armaments shortly.

not having it as one mesh is better. We generally split the models up where we wont see the joins. that way we can assign different maps to them (thus we can have larger texture maps on them and paint more detail in) so i wouldn't worry about that.

The only part that looks a little off to me is the nose cone. It looks a little too large.

Cheers

Alan

Comments and Critiques welcome.

Do you think this is a good portfolio piece? I'm thinking of creating a low-poly version and generating a Normal Map. For right now though I'm taking a break from this model to work on another WWII vehicle: The M4 Sherman Tank.
