Well...the title says it all... :) decided to try something new... a custom Vrod... Haven't decided if i want to give it a theme or not...if I do, I want to give it a nightmare b4 christmas theme... I am kinda overdoing the mechanical aspects...as you can tell from the huge dual brake disc...what do you think so far?? I decided to take my time on this, instead of getting it finnished in a really quick amount of time like i usually do. Thanks,
Brian

Brian

Brian, just great !!! Your a inspiration dude. really !

(pony returns to the search for the secrets to models like this, knowing a good part of it would be a talent that one has to find in them self’s)

i like the brake disk. im still knew so i dont know how to make that swirly look:( but ill get it in time. I love bikes, been planning on making one when i get better. Then a future version of it aswell.

Forum_snowboarder33 29-01-2004 01:04 AM

im not sure about bikes, but on cars - with cross drilled rotors.. it premotes warping of the disk :S - but screw it.. xdrilled and slotted rotors look crazy.. thats whats going on my car soon : )

roach105 29-01-2004 02:18 AM

I have seen these on a few cars. very rare.

I think car rotors have less cross drilling done on them so warping wont occur

brian_ellebracht 29-01-2004 02:44 AM

nice pic roach yeah it might warp in real life...actually, I haven't seen it on a bike b4, but I thought that it looked cool... Hey, haveing a problem deciding how do do the forks...wondering if I should make the design, with double forks with the springs on top...or if I should do the more traditional..with the single....what do you think??

Hey Bri, can you go into detail abit on how you created the swirled interior (grooves) with the holes?

ckyuk 30-01-2004 07:05 PM

I really should just stop looking through brians threads, they just depress me. They make me see how crap i am.

twisteddragon33 30-01-2004 07:10 PM

i know how you feel ckyuk. But hopefully ill be able to do that stuff someday.

I think you should make a more traditional style forks, no springs.

I don't know how he did it but i would extrude a cube along a curve the same shape as the groove and then duplicate it around an axis in the center of the disc so they are all in the right place. Then use a Boolean operation to subtract the shape from the disc. I'd also do the holes in the same way.
