Hi,

Can someone help me. Im trying to make a logo from the attached curves (logo). Im capping the end with a plane but its not perfect. Whats the best way?

Many thanks,

Matt

imo... bevel plus.

i did it with what you have... i deleted everything you had except the curves. then you select them and hit bevel plus in the edit nurbs menu i think.

...ps turn the glow down!

Hi,

Thanks so much for that! I added the glow as i wanted to try and make it look neon i did add a light but it didnt spread across the whole volume of the 3d letter.

Could you recommend a better way?

Once again thanks a lot!!

You can kill the diffuse, change the incandescence to red to simulate a bright surface(or use a surface shader instead) and do the glow in post.

look for ctrl_lights released by ctrl_studios

turns geometry into light. this is also something you can do in post easier than in maya.

I used an Mia_mat with a light surface texture instead and this is what I got.

Yikes, sorry I didn't save it ><, I just created some text, assigned a dark lambert, then assigned a mia_material_x (its a Mental Ray shader) to the front faces of the letters, I plugged a light surface (its in the MR texture section) into the 'additional color' slot (thats under the advanced section of the mia_material's attributes) Changed its color to red and told it to contribute to final gathering and reflections, turned on final gathering in the render settings, tweaked intensities a bit and did the actual glow in After Effects(more control that way but I'm sure you can use a bright Maya shader and a slight glow).

Other thoughts: I used the same type of shader setup on some poly planes to light the scene, and I did attach a photographic exposure lens shader to the camera.

Edit: I did use Puppet's fisheye lens shader as well <3
