Hello all again. I am actually gonna stick to this model for more than a week and scince im following a tut this time it should turn out ok (I hope :) ) Its gonna be John Travolta (He was the only actor i could thimk of to make at the time.)
Heres what i'm at so far, ive projected my image plane texture onto the model and it fits up good so far.

Well, I marked this one up, to show you where the edge loops should go. I remember Jay and Next Design used to do this a while ago.

That render was using The Vector thing do the wire didn't come out right, But after comparing my edge loops to the ones that Matt drew in i have decided to start over.

Also, i managed to find out a way to texture thing much easyer but i have no idea how i did it! Heres what it looks like.

Yeah, seems like a laid out UV map... I probably would pelt that one to match it right...

Some Guy 02-01-2006 03:01 AM

It's a UV map but it started out as a projected image plane like on the first picture.

My last method of moddeling was too hard and messy so ive gone with the extruding of a single polygon way. THis way i have total contol over edge loops and stuff. Heres the eye and the start of the nose

It would help a lot if you used a reference.

Some Guy 02-01-2006 10:28 AM

I'm looking at a pic while moddeling it and i couldn't be bothered making Orthographic references.

Jay 02-01-2006 11:14 AM

Ahh dude

Cmon! Dont have that cant be bothered attitude, that really sucks and really doesnt do other people any good when thay join a forum and see this type of thing written, it doesnt say much for yourself either, people will ignore you. Cmon give us Travolta!!

And if ya stuck with modelling a head theres plenty of good tutes here to help (especially mine) LOL, so buy yourself some points, download a tute or 5, do get some good reference and kick ass!!

Never say die! And if you get stuck, theres plenty other good dudes on here willing to help you. Thats what its about ya know!!

Jay

listen to jay, he knows what he's on about and gives great advice.

Making the orthos may be initially tedious but you'll see a huge improvement in the actual modelling stage. A little more preparation at the beginning will reap huge rewards later on :)

Thanks for the inspirational speech jay and T1ck :)

Ive got the references for Travolta, i was practising with edge loops for the last one. Also i have had a heap of trouble and spent many hours looking for a face tutorial but all the ones that i have found have either cost money or don't actually show me how to meddel it (Witch is very frustrating) If anyone knows of a tutorial that is easy to understand it would be very helpfull/
