Car blue prints

I just can't figure out how to get the blueprints for cars into maya.

I have downloaded the car blueprints but don't know how to make them "backgrounds" or how to import them at all, really.

If someone could help me with this, i would surely appreciate it.

The bluprint for the car is here...

Open the file into Photoshop (or similar photo/image editing package) and cut out/edit the various parts into equal parts.

N.B.: Top and side views are recommended to remain the same height and width, this will allow correct scale. Also keep the front and back views the same width as the top/side views and the front back need to be the same width also. Create Poly Planes for each and ensure these are scaled to the same size and unit as the images.

There's a free tute on SM on Image Planes, grab it and have a gander.

Another way is to use your image uncut and simply move the image plane. Just map the file into the cameraShape image plane (under the Environment section) then manipulate the image plane's x,y,z coordinates to line them all up. Creating a cube helps with this. I leave the cube in the center then move the image planes in the order: top, front, side. The cube should outline the verymost portions of each view. This way you don't have to worry about one view being huge compared to another with photoshoped pieces.

The other method is also just as good. Just make sure that your image plane scale attributes are compatible with each other.

I'm not sure if that came out like I was hoping. PM me if you have trouble.
