Which plugins to load?
1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys,
I'm thinking of turning off some of the plugins in Maya, in order for it to start faster. The problem is, there's a plethora of them, and I don't even know what some are! Can anyone explain what these plugins are, and why you would need them? -Steven  |
Most of them you wont need at all, unless you use it. One example is the tiff float reader, you wont need it unless your rendering with 32 bit tiff's.
In fact you probably dont need any of them for general use (appart form MR if thats your renderer of choice) I would switch them off and see what you need when and were you need it. |
whoa! lol thats a ton, i only have mayatomr.dll and obj exporter, and if i need anyothers i just quicking add it

OK, I know that I'm going to keep fbxmaya.bundle, Fur.bundle, MayaMuscle.bundle, Mayatomr.bundle, objExport.bundle, and VectorRender.bundle, but what are the rest? Specifically these: animImportExport.bundle, cgfxShader.bundle, cleanPerFaceAssignment.bundle, ge2Export.bundle, ik2Bsolver.bundle, ikSpringSolver.bundle, nearestPointOnMesh.bundle, OpenEXRLoader.bundle, rotateHelper.bundle, rtgExport.bundle, studioeImport.bundle, and vrml2Export.bundle.

I know a few off the top of my head, here goes
animImportExport.bundle - Exports and imports animations cgfxShader.bundle - A custom hardware shader creater nearestPointOnMesh - Finds the nearest point on a mesh from a specified point (a maya node that, I think, replaces closestPointOnMesh) ikSpringSolver.bundle - Creates a IK solver that goes accross multiple joints studioeImport.bundle - An importer for Alias Studio vrml2Export.bundle - Exports to VRML (interactive 3d type programme) A lot of the other s look like little tools and various exporters/importers |
Thanks a lot for the help, Steve.
