modeling plugin

hey guys, how are you? I've heard of this modeling plugin, a long time ago, which does the same functions as a polygon connect like 3dsmax. It does the same functions as loop or ring select, and connect edges. It's almost like a polygon split in maya, but it's more efficient and faster. I've tried looking at highend 3d, but couldn't find it with the same description. You guys are always helpful and was hoping if anyone knew what it was?

Thanks,

ps sorry if this is a common/dumb question, but i haven't had much exposure to maya recently.

Edge Loops and Smart Selection

Not sure if you guys have heard about Byron's Poly tools or not. This is definately "the" best plugin for Maya when working with polygons to improve workflow. I've got it, and its awesome. Its still in Beta for Maya6, (older versions work fine) but even the Beta has saved me tons of work time.

http://www.byronimo.de/mainpage.htm

Its costs 50 EUR, approx $65 USD, but believe me, its worth it.. theres even a good soft selection tool which you can adjust how much it affects surrounding vertices.

I use Maya 6, and the only real bug is that sometimes you lose your shader while working in shaded mode, but all you have to do is go into hypershade and reapply the shader.. no biggie. And make sure you delete history and the byronimo node from the outliner before saving. Thats it.

Hope this helps...

MJ Poly Tools

Yeah, MJ Poly Tools isn't bad, and it is free. So weigh the options. I prefer Byron's cause of the awesome soft transformation tool. That was really the kicker for me.
