The best animation tutorial for newbies?

Hi all,

Can anyone point me to the best animation tutorial for newbies?

I found lots of tutorials... but none of them is good enough!!

I have Maya 8.0.

Thanks.

Well if you are a 'newbie' to the forum, theres plenty of stuff in the dvd section to get you going, just check em out and make a decision. Also maya's own help files come with some simple animation tutes as well....always worth checking out!!

I would like to find a good basic tutorial on animating a character rig which uses bones. Perhaps something like the robot-opening-a-door tut here at SM, but using bones. I've looked around quite a bit, but haven't found one yet.
I found this "Animating a Bird Flying" tutorial to be a useful intro:

There are also several free character rigs at this site.

Let me know if you find anything.
Thanks.

Hi All,

First, PixelDroid, in one of the vids they show how to put a skeleton for a dog model; this might be what you're looking for.

Jay, thanks for the tip. I've already downloaded most of the video tuts and they're amazing and very helpful.

What I'm trying to find is a tutorial that gives me an overview of maya's animation... how do i link all these animation concepts all together for one big scene... All tuts I've found tend to teach you one technique only, how do I combine these techniques.

Let me know if you have any idea.

Again, Thanks a lot for your help.

Cheers.
