dino

Decided to take a break from my girl project and try to model something a little less complicated. Here is the start of a stegosaurus dino that I started yesterday. Still need to attach the back legs and work on his face geometry.

Any crits?

and his back. Also thinking about doing a tryceratops and an ankylosaurus next.

even though he looks to be a charicature of an actual steggy i think the tail should be longer so the spikes can be at the end of the tail. other than that, it looks great, and i LOVE the cartoony-type head. awesome.

yea dude. i like it.

i think you should definitely make it cartoony or caricature'esque

 good work

Yeah man, I really like it so far, got a nice cartooney, chunky look about the critter!

nice going arran, very cutesy :)

so you might create a whole host of them? that would be good to play with simple animations for - it could be a bit like moschops many many years ago (old plasticine style cartoon with cutesy dinosaurs and a flower) ;)

hey - thanks a lot guys - i couldn't decide if he was any good or not, so it's good to get some feedback.

T1ck - I had a quick look on you tube and managed to find the introduction to moschops. I think I vaguely remember them. They look crazy cute. It would be cool to do some short dino animations and I have an idea in mind though at the moment I am just aiming for a simple scene.

I've attached his back legs and spent a lot of time trying to get them looking right. still more to do. I had a play with the length of the tail, but ended up leaving it as it was, though I did make his spikes smaller and push them back.

and a view of his butt for all you dino butt lovers out there...

and here's a view of his head. I decided to remodel the mouth and give him more of a bird like snout. at the moment he just has two simple shaders thrown on for effect.

NeoStrider 14-11-2006 08:07 PM

if i remember correctly the spikes on the end of the tail are supposed to come out from the top instead of the sides, aren't they? almost like a cluster?

hmm...i don't think so neostrider. all of the images that I have seen show them with either two or four spikes coming out from each side. This top image is an actual skeleton.

Nice going!

Like it dude! I like that you have chosen to make a charicature style dino rather than an acurate representation. If you are looking for any more reference regards tail spikes the following is a good place to look-albeit small-ish images>>http://abc.net.au/dinosaurs/fact_fil...gosaurus_4.htm

The walking with dinosaurs team made an awesome job at their creations and their images, along with others can be found at yahoo images.

Can't wait to see the next pics mate!
Good luck with it!
