How do i stop this crinkling when i move the ik handle for the arm?

LauriePriest 17-11-2008 11:24 PM

dont animate the arms in IK?
hes not picking anything up, and even if i dont think an IK solution is really needed.

And the issue is probably your skin weights.

elephantinc 17-11-2008 11:38 PM

I thought that your not supposed to rotate and move the joints them selves?

RockyMills_01 18-11-2008 12:40 AM

What I was taught, You should not rotate the joints before binding.
But after binding, You can move them freely. In my first rig I never used any IK handles. I move the joints on their own to do posing. To make the joints easier to grab, I displayed the joint's selection handles and move them outside the geometry.
Those + signs are the handles.

Nice Kirby you got there. I never use the toon shader though.
Are you gonna model all 100 kerbys?
That'll be fun!:attn:

elephantinc 18-11-2008 12:59 AM

no, i dont know how many ill model, ill see how the first few go

thanks
im loving the whole toon look, you can create something that looks cool in minutes

and as you have probably noticed, rigging is not my strong point, but on friday next week ill be getting a book that should finally cure my rigging ignorance

Kirby (plain) update

Chirone 18-11-2008 01:19 AM

i love those 100 kirbys :p

you should start with something simple that doesn't have hair or involve you having to remake the whole body like megaman or the cyber ninja
