Hey Man, Looks good, would be nice to see it in an environment!

I cant really make it out but the material for the body seems a bit too reflective, as I thiough that they were quite matt materails with very little refelctions.

Like I said if it was in an envireoment it wouldbe easier to spot any problems as the black background takes away some of the detials.

Great Work, looking forward to seeing some updates!

Cheers!

I would saturate your blues and reds a bit more, they are too bright, perhaps even the greens. The glass on the cockpit doesn't look right. Also, more work on the rendering set up would really help out. The model is very good though. did you have any bump maps?

I especially like the dark, "dirty" smudges on the green and brown camo; very nice touch that adds a weathered look!

Thanks for the feed back guys i realy appreciate it, as i said im a hobyist, and so time is always a factor, sometimes i end up rushing the last bit just to get a render...but you all make valid points.

Render set up is my big flaw, lighting espesialy, i usualy end up using final gather as a kind of cheat but it can give unsatisfactory results, still onwards and upwards, keep up the good work everyone

as an interested amature i would also be interested in seeing a render of your base mesh, see if we go about it the same way.
the uv map is 2024 x 2024, i am currently unwrapping a lancaster that will be 4048 x 4048

marlonjohn 23-03-2007 12:12 AM

yeah that looks much better :)

VERY nice, especially in an environment! I concur with Gster, it looked a bit reflective, but in the environment it looks perfect! Nice UV map, too! I did a zeppelin a while back with a 2048 UV map, and I really think I need to go higher! Anyway, great work!

The lighting could use some work, it looks like there's a big light in front of it. And the yellow is too saturated.

paldav 25-03-2007 08:59 PM

Thanks guys, realy helpful, the image was rendered using the "smallbackyard" HDRI from the apache tut, with a direction light for shadow, if anyone has any tips on lighting with traditional lights i would be very appreciative, it is my shockingly weak point!

Nice modling.... but the yellow is for me, too bright.... remenber is a fighter not a flying taget....

Keep up the good work
