Animation work flow

I guess this might be a highly subjective, but I'm wondering what is the most common work flow with dealing with character animation with Maya.

Do most people strictly animate in Maya, or use something like MotionBuilder for animating then import back in.

It seems like MB might be a much more efficient tool but perhaps not. I guess my real question would be asking if MB would be worth looking into obtaining or is it used more of as a crutch?

Would love to hear some opinions from this great community. Thanks.

I haven't personally used motionbuilder, but from what I've heard, it's used for a lot of motion capture stuff, so maybe not as much for keyframe animation, I don't know. If you wanted to do it all in Maya, I'm sure that would be a widely accepted workflow.

Hi jj.

In all the animation studio's I've worked in, we have always done all our animation in Maya. Motion Builder is an awesome tool, and some studios use it, but I think mainly Maya is used for animation and Motion Builder, more for previs and motion capture.
