Beveling

Hi everyone,
This is the first time I ever posted a message anywere, so bear with my learning process. Thanks.

Q?: What's the best way to create and control a bevel in Maya 3.5.1 (OSX)?
Possibly without generating extra geometry.

Sorry for being such a newbie in both posting and 3d in general. Just learning.

Regards to all.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. The process of beveling is supposed to add a strip of new geometry at the corners... in order to bevel it.

Do you mean to simulate beveling without actually doing so?

Bevelling

Thanks Mike, for trying.
First of all there are two bevelling options, one for Nurbs and one for Polygons.
Nurbs have a lot more control options. So let's say I create a Nurbs cube from a primitive, and I want this cube to have simple small bevelled edges on all the sides.
I know that you are required to select nurbs curve/s, but I am still unable to get the results I want to get with such a simple procedure.
Once again I appreciate your patience and understanding.
PS. Cool site. Nice illustrations ( I like the fish creature a lot)

Thanks. :)

Beveling nurbs are a tricky thing because of the nature of their surfaces. In my opinion, I think you'd get better results by beveling nurbs surfaces by hand than using the (imo) clunky nurbs bevel menu item.
