Modelling???

i've been using maya for a few months so i'm pretty familiar with it. i've used alot of the main features in Maya 4 & PLE 4 but modelling is somthing that i havent focused as of yet. I've modelled simple objects but i want to create my own character designs. I heard alot of people mention that sub-d's is the easiest to use but this isn't available in PLE 4.

Anyway....enough with the shpill, my point is that i need help with modelling.

Do all your rough shapes in nurbs, than once you have the shapes and are happy with it covert to polys. After coverting to polys just switch back and forth between poly smooth to see how your model is comming along.

in my opinion it's just as easy to simply start from polys to begin with, but it's all a matter of preference and you don't know what your preferences are until you try it all out. :D

I like working from polys first, but thats only because I can't use nurbs very well... =|

yep i cant stand nurbs ive been wanting to model a car with nurbs i have made it an obbsession but i fail everytime lol nurbs in my opinon suck!

nurbs is a bit complicated but when you start using them,,, they will get a bit easier... but start with polys,,, they are the easiest and you wont have to burst a braincell trying to align the curves...
